Longford Chemist unveiled a new piece of technology yesterday that will allow people to collect prescriptions 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

It is the first of its kind in Coventry, and will allow people to collect their medication at a time that suits them.

People wanting to use the machine simply need to register to the service and will receive a text message with a code telling them when their prescription is ready to collect.

The text will also share how much the cost will be and you pay by card upon collection.

Reiss, who works as a dispenser and a phlebotomist at the chemist, thinks it will be a useful addition for everyone.

He said: "When we are quite busy, having the dispenser will mean we won't have big queues.

"It means that even if people want to pick up a prescription at 4am, they can, so it should be useful for everyone.

"It is in the wall in the shop, and we fill it up from our side, and the customers collect it from the outside using a pin they're sent."

Yesterday (May 26), the chemist announced the opening of the dispenser, which will be available to use from today.

The plans for the instalment were in the pipeline for the business prior to the coronavirus lockdown, however the convenient timings now mean it is accessible for key workers outside of normal hours.

It also means customers can maintain social distance outside where it is believed transmission of Covid-19 is less likely where distancing is maintained.

I wonder how long before this is ripped out like a cash machine?
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
