A pensioner had his wallet stolen by a man claiming to sell hand sanitiser.

West Midlands Police are now trying to trace two men in connection with the incident and have put out a CCTV image of the people they want to speak to.

The pensioner invited a man who said he was selling hand sanitiser into his home. His wallet was then stolen.

The incident happened on April 11 but details have only just been released.

Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, hand sanitiser has been difficult to get hold of and prices have spiked as people attempt to stop the spread of germs.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We want to trace these men after a pensioner’s wallet was stolen when he let a man selling hand sanitiser into his Coventry home on April 11.

“The suspect left with a second man in a black Ford Focus on false plates.”

Anyone with information, or who recognises the car or the men, is asked to contact West Midlands Police on the Live Chat function on their website quoting incident number 20CV/88178E/20.
