NHS staff across Coventry and parts of Warwickshire will get free travels on buses and trams in the region as they go to work amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Transport for West Midlands, West Midlands Metro, and local bus operators have partnered up, to allow hospital workers and those working in frontline medical facilities to travel for free while the battle against Covid-19 continues.

Those eligible will be able to travel for free by showing their NHS pass.

The announcement comes as buses across the region have seen a massive drop off in passenger numbers, with only key workers able to travel to and from their jobs.

As a result, public transport, including buses and trains, has been scaled back across the region, and beyond.

But despite running fewer services, the network remains operational to assist in getting important workers to where they need to be.

And today's announcement means that those workers can travel for free on buses operated by the following providers:

  • National Express West Midlands
  • Diamond
  • Landflight and Claribel
  • Banga
  • Coventry Community Transport
  • Evergreen (Thandi)
  • Johnsons
  • Kev’s Cars
  • Select Bus
  • Travel De Courcey
  • Walsall Community Transport
  • West Midlands Metro services
Children of key workers travelling to school are also eligible for free travel on production of their personalised letter allowing them to continue to attend school during this period.

:hysterical: a bit late in the day for this is nt it.
Or is that so those nurses doctors surgeons Ambulsnce drivers etc can catch the covid19 quicker or be a carrier to give it to more patients as the government it self says children are the worse to carry it or to get the virus as they are more touchy . :clown:
