New providers are to take over four Coventry GPs.

Stoke Aldermoor Surgery, Foleshill Surgery, Broad Lane Surgery and the City of Coventry Healthcare Centre faced an uncertain future as their contracts expired on March 31.

All had fixed-term Alternative Provider Medical Services contracts which Coventry and Rugby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) wanted to re-procure.

After a bidding process, the CCG has announced the Coventry and Rugby GP Alliance as the new joint provider.

They were previously run separately by Malling Health and Virgin Care.

Jenni Northcote, Chief Primary Care and Strategy Officer at the CCG, said “We’re pleased to announce that we have selected the successful bidder for these four practices in Coventry.

“Coventry and Rugby GP Alliance will be taking over the running of the current practices from 1st July, following a three-month mobilisation period.

“Patients will see no interruption to their services, and should continue to contact the practice by telephone.”

Some 16,700 patients are cared for at the GPs.
