Two arrested after high-speed police chase in Coventry

Two people have been arrested following a dramatic high speed police chase this afternoon.

Officers are still hunting one person, believed to be the driver of a white BMW and the police helicopter is involved as the search continues.

The drama unfolded at around 12pm, when a white BMW which had been reported stolen was spotted by officers from West Midlands Police near Beaconsfield Road.

The high speed chase came to an abrupt halt around half an hour later when the driver stopped the car on Harefield Road.

The chase continued on foot, with armed officers following as the occupants of the car ran from the scene.

West Midlands Police confirmed two people, both male and aged 17 and 18 were arrested on suspicion of theft of a car. They have been taken into police custody.

Helicopter searches are continuing for the driver of the car.

Officers have launched an appeal for information, asking anyone who can help with the investigation to come forward.
