Police received calls about a lock-in at a pub in Coventry - but it turned out to be the family who owned it playing pool.

Officers pulled up at The Boat Inn pub in Exhall expecting to find a packed pub.

But on arrival, it became clear that the family who live above the pub had been spotted in their own home, playing pool and darts in the bar area - which is well within the nation's social isolation rules.

Instead of a full pub, landlady Niki, and her family, including two children were the only ones found inside the pub.

The Boat landlady Niki told CoventryLive s that she understands why the call was made, but urged members of the public to not waste the police's time during these trying times.

She said: "We were just downstairs playing pool and listening to music as we live here and someone had seen the lights on and reported us for being open.

"Four police officers turned up in two cars, and came in and looked around before leaving.

"I posted a message on our Facebook page to stop people wasting (the police's) time.

"Most people know that a family live here, so I'm not sure who it could have been."

Reacting to the incident, which took place at around 11pm on Saturday, Niki posted a message to pub goers on Facebook, saying: "We love you all but just want to say the lights on are just me and my family playing pool, darts and listening to music.

"We live here, I would never let anyone compromise my kids health. we had a visit from the police tonight.

"Please don’t waste their time, they are busy."

The curtain twitchers are having a field day. :(
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
