Long queues as McDonald's in Rugby reopens drive-thru

Image

Another McDonald's restaurant has re-opened - to the delight of people who queued for their favourite fast food.

Drivers and customers queued as the drive-thru for the restaurant in London Road, Rugby, reopened today.

It comes after the fast food outlets were among many chain and independent shops and restaurants to close during the coronavirus lockdown.

In May the fast food giant announced it would be reopening all 900 of its UK drive-thrus by early June.

Safety measures have been put in place to protect staff and customers - and fans of the menu may be in for a disappointment: not all items will be available immediately.

The menu will be limited as smaller teams will be on duty to help enforce social distancing.

Customers are also asked to use contactless payment wherever possible.

The drive-thru at restaurants in Walsgrave, Nuneaton, Appleby Magna and Tamworth is set to re-open tomorrow, June 3.

There was no sign of the one in Holyhead Road being open this evening.

Nuneaton McDonald's re-opens causing traffic chaos

Image

Queues are building on one of Nuneaton's busiest traffic islands as people flock to get their first McDonald's in months.

The McDonald's drive-thru at Bermuda Park only opened at 11am today (June 3) but the queues were already forming less than half an hour later.

Traffic built up quickly around the Griff Island and is likely to have an impact as more people go in search of their McDonald's fix.

Staff, kitted out in PPE, were walking along the queue, talking to customers.

The Nuneaton Asda and the Queens Road branches remain closed.

And the Bermuda Drive-thru is not open 24 hours, its hours are from 11am and until 10pm.

I suspect it may be opening today. At least that's what the Telegraph implies.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Traffic chaos across Coventry and Warwickshire as McDonald's fans flock to golden arches

Image

Huge traffic queues have built up outside McDonald’s restaurants in Coventry and Warwickshire this afternoon (Wednesday, June 3) as drive-thrus reopen across the region.

Long tail-backs ensued as people flocked to the golden arches at Arlington Business Park in Canley, Bermuda Park in Nuneaton and Europa Way in Leamington Spa.

In Nuneaton, Warwickshire Police confirmed officers were called to the A444 at its junction with St David's Way because of the chaos being caused by the McDonald's on Bermuda Park re-opening.

As a result, they had to close off the road at the junction.

All drive-thru restaurants are re-opening and the Coventry city centre branch will now be offering a delivery service. The branch in West Orchards will remain closed for the time being.

Yesterday (June 2) saw two restaurants opening in Rugby, one in Alcester and another in Stratford. Today (June 3), sees the opening of the stores in Coventry, Nuneaton, Warwick and Leamington Spa (Europa Way).

The feeding frenzy was short-lived, the queue was back to pre-lockdown levels on Thursday.

Like you Melisandre, I've only ever tried one once. It was in Burton-on-Trent, 25+ years ago and I was ravenous. One bite and I threw it away. I don't think Mrs R fared any better with hers. Yet my children love them!

I think that is to do with the junk food fed to them at school mixed in with Ritalin put into their dinners Rebbonk which they gave to children with ADH yet it was never passed or trialed tested to treat children only for adults . It had the adverse effect on the children that never had ADH I read this on cefax health news years ago.
