Foodbanks in Coventry have started to close due to the coronavirus pandemic preventing volunteers reaching centresOut of the 16 foodbanks in Coventry, five have closed.
Project manager Hugh McNeill explained: “A lot of our volunteers are elderly, we had to make decisions to protect them, so that they wouldn’t have to step out at the moment.”
The foodbanks now shut:
St Oswald’s church, Tile Hill
Foleshill Baptist church, Broad Street
Peggies Park Church, Holbrooks
Bell Green Life Centre, Bell Green
Church of God of Prophecy, Hillfields
Mr McNeill added: “The remaining Foodbank centres are operating a prepacked food parcel system to ensure everyone is kept safe. Please bear with us as we try and respond to this situation.
“Donations can be dropped into any of our collection points in the main supermarkets
“Or directly into our warehouse in Progress Way, Binley industrial estate, CV3 2NT open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4pm.”
