Staff shortages as a result of Covid-19 are to blame

A Coventry primary school is having to partially close due to staff shortages caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

Radford Primary Academy in Lawrence Saunders Road is asking parents of children in nursery, reception, years 3, 4 and 5 to keep them home from tomorrow.

If any parents work in the emergency or medical services they are asked to call the headteacher to discuss arrangements.

Plus, children who are entitled to free school meals will still be able to get a cold lunch provided by the school – if it’s ordered in advance.

Headteacher Emma McCann said that we are in “unprecedented times” and that the decision to partially close the school had not been an easy one.

However, the number of staff at the school who are having to self-isolate has left them no other option.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged anyone who lives in a household where someone has coronavirus symptoms to self-isolate for 14 days.

Radford Primary Academy posted a letter confirming the partial closure on their social media channels.
