No more petrol cars

I suppose this is general knowledge by now. I really do not think this will work. Perhaps those living in the more wealthy areas will manage fine but for the millions having to park on the road there will be serious problems. The parking in many roads in Allesley Park is difficult as many households have several cars. It is always happening that a driver gets home to find nowhere to park near his/her home. Perhaps this is just a plan to get the working class off the road.

The cars will be thrown away when the batteries die just like every other electrical appliance. Johnson is just trying to make himself look big on the international stage.

That's already a reality where I come from Melisandre! Mains gas is banned in new homes and people are forced to use electricty which is twice as expensive in Holland as it is in England :fuming:

I wonder how we're going to charge all these electric cars without massive spend on electric infrastructure? - Ah. I see, smart meters!

They say in the public comments on the link to connect a pump which will make it it cheaper to run.
I just see it hitting at the poor and elderly again.
I suppose it's another one of their ways of culling the population. :fuming:

Yes in the public comments they mention smart meters their experiment of how much we use to cacilate raising cost for the future at our expense. I can see lots of power cuts coming . How long will one of those car batterys last in winter with heating window wipers etc on the go.

News today water got into gas pipes in a large area they had to cut off the gas and issue electric cooker rings and heaters to customers a great number of extra staff was bought in ready to deal with it in fear of a serge in the electric to deal with it.

Yes, a heat pump is more efficient but initially more expensive and tricky to fit into an existing building.

Batteries for electric cars come in two groups. Lead batteries can be recycled but have a shorter life than lithium and can only be used for short journies. Lithium batteries are more efficient but have no recycle value so would go to landfill sites. Neither option is very good.
Here in the UK we would struggle with charging batteries while the USA,India,China and most of Europe would be using petrol.
