A "dangerous" pervert sexually assaulted women aged between 18 and 92 in Coventry while posing as a charity collector in a string of vile attacks.
Vaseli Baicu, of Mossdale Close, Radford, attacked some of his vulnerable victims - who included a 92-year-old who suffers from dementia and an 80-year-old recovering from a stroke - in their own homes.
Others he had groped after stopping them in the street with a clipboard claiming to be collecting for a charity which helped the blind and deaf.
The 26-year-old also stole items from some of his victims, including £600 from the purse of an elderly lady.
Baicu was told by a judge at Warwick Crown Court he was a "dangerous" offender who particularly presented a risk to lone females.
He pleaded guilty at Warwick Crown Court to four charges of sexual assault, two of burglary, one of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence and one of fraud.
He was given ‘determinate sentences’ of two years and three months, of which he will have to serve half – and will then begin to serve a consecutive extended four-year sentence.
He will have to serve at least two-thirds of that, and will only be released before serving the whole four years if the Parole Board considers it safe for him to be freed.
Baicu will then be on licence for the rest of the term and for an additional four years, taking his total sentence to ten years three months, and will have to register as a sex offender for life.
Jailing Baicu, Judge Peter Cooke told him through a Romanian interpreter: “I have to deal with you for eight offences, five of them sexual in nature, perpetrated against seven different women in the space of less than three weeks.
“I can only agree with the author of the pre-sentence report that you meet the criteria to be regarded as a dangerous offender. You present a danger to members of the public, and particularly to lone females.
“If anyone is in any doubt that that is the position, they been only to contemplate that over a period of less than three weeks you committed eight offences, five of them of a sexual nature against seven women. Of course you are a danger.”
