A racist thug jailed for stabbing two people outside a night club in the city walked out of the open prison where he was being held and called his mum - who then called the cops on him.

Jamie Hislop, previously of Cottage Farm Road, Keresley, Coventry, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison after stabbing two men - one in the chest and one so hard in the head that the blade snapped - outside the former Club M in February 2017 .

The 30-year-old was just seven months away from being released from HMP Spring Hill in Buckinghamshire when he packed his bags and walked out.

And the first staff knew about his disappearance was after the police received a call from his mother telling them of his escape.

He was on the run for six days before handing himself in at Coventry Police Station.

Hislop pleaded guilty to escaping from lawful custody at Warwick Crown Court and was jailed for two months – consecutive to the sentence he is still serving.

Actually, the original trial judge said the stabbings were NOT racially motivated!
