Residents at one Coventry care home were given the full red carpet treatment this week.
Glitz and glamour took over Avalon Court care home on Thursday as residents, staff, friends and even a famous face came together to celebrate the Avalon Drama Divas.
The event was put on to celebrate the drama group, so CoventryLive went down to the star studded event to find out the secret of how they got to the stage.
In true Hollywood style, Sherrie Hewson of Coronation Street and Loose Women fame made a guest appearance to help kick off the party.
An ambassador of the home, she said: "I feel that this gives people now, such a great older life. Some people have more dementia than others, some have more alzheimer's than others, but they give them such a jolly life.
"We're all going to be there at some point, so it means the world."
The Avalon Drama Divas was set up two and a half years ago by activities co-ordinator Kay Bullock and has been a blinding success for the home.
Kay said: "Some of the residents have never done drama before, they've never done acting or singing. Some of them have, but everyone really has a brilliant time. It really helps with their confidence too.
"It's a real big team effort , and it's all about community performing arts."
Staff enthusiasm has also helped the group reach greater heights, and has meant that residents with dementia, mobility issues and long term illnesses could all get up on stage and perform to the crowds.
The event was put on to celebrate how well the drama group has done but was open to the whole home.
It was the perfect excuse for all the residents to get dressed up and saw a long line of party goers waiting for their turn to walk the red carpet ahead of the performance.
Community performing arts are known to help tackle social isolation and help encourage socialisation. The atmosphere spoke for itself, and showed how important the collective approach of the home has been in helping support residents.
