Coventry bus prices are changing in 2020 - and there's winners and losers

Cash prices have been frozen, but those who pay by other methods will see a price rise

Bus users who don't pay by cash in Coventry can expect to see their fares rise next year.

Only those who pay with cash will see the amount they pay stay the same on National Express Coventry services from January 2 onwards.

The company announced all cash fares will be frozen for the third year in a row, while those who use a contactless card, pay on their mobile app and most Swift travel card options will see their fare increase.

The biggest price rise is for the four week ticket if you pay by mobile, which will be increasing 60p from £50.90 to £51.50.

Most other journeys are increasing by 10p.

But there are some winners, with some options going down in price.

The cost of the weekly travelcard is being reduced from £18 to £17.50.

And there's also good news youngsters. The price of an under 18 all day ticket - the daysaver - is set to fall by 20p, from £2.50 to £2.30.

Those who don't pay by cash can expect a price rise.

National Express Coventry is removing the discounts it currently applies on contactless card payments, those paying on the mobile app and also those using Swift Pay As You Go.

Most journeys paid for on the mobile app will go up by 10p.

But a monthly ticket will rise by 60p.

Those who like he convenience of tapping their card at the barrier will also see a 10p rise in fare.

One adult trip used to cost £2.10, but will cost £2.20 in 2020.

Two adult trips or more will cost £4 from January 2, instead of £3.90.

With the exception of the child daysaver, all swift card options are set to rise.
