Officers taped off an area near B&Q

Police officers are currently dealing with an incident at Alvis Retail Park in Coventry.

Officers have taped off part of the car park near B&Q.

The steps between Morrisons car park and B&Q have also been taped off.

One police car is parked up at the scene off Holyhead Road.

This is a live incident and CoventryLive has called West Midlands Police for more information.

West Midlands Police have released a statement regarding the incident.

A spokesman said: “Police were called to Alvis Retail Park on Holyhead Road in Coventry just before 5am this morning (Tuesday 3 December) after concerns were raised for the safety of a woman.

“She was taken to hospital, where she remains, though she is not believed to be injured. “

A spokesman for West Midlands Police has confirmed no crime has taken place in Alvis Retail Park despite the cordon being up for several hours.

It has been advised the cordon was a precautionary measure.

As far as I can tell she slipped on some ice so the steps and the footpath leading to them were cordoned-off as a precaution. The cordon has since been removed and the area heavily gritted.
