The Town Council objected to the plansThe Peacocks store on Warwick Street in Leamington Spa is going to be demolished and transformed into flats and retail space.
Planning has been approved for the build, which will see 26 new apartments built in addition to store space underneath.
The flats will be a variety of one, two and three bedroom properties.
However, the build has received strong objection from Leamington Town Council for a number of reasons.
One of these is that none of the flats fall in the 'affordable' housing bracket.
There is also no car park included in the plans.
For a while now, the Peacocks store has had signs up saying they are closing down, however a date for this closure is yet to be announced.
