The town was covered in poignant poppies as crowds of thousands showed their respect

A perfect poppy drop showered Bedworth town centre with the poignant red flowers as the town once against showed its patriotic pride.

From a Piper Cub plane, which was used by the US Army in World War II for 'spotting' and reconnaissance missions, poppies rained down on the thousands who turned out for Bedworth's Armistice Day Parade and Service.

It was a wing and a prayer that secured the plane after the Beechcraft 18 plane, which had been used for the proud poppy drop in the past, was sold.

But the pilots of the Beechcraft managed to secure the Piper Cub and, in a mirror image of the 2018 event, managed to make sure that the symbolic red flowers danced through the air and onto the crowds.

The stunning spectacle marked what was a special year in the town's proud history as being the only one outside of London to have observed two minutes silence on the eleventh hour on the eleventh day on the eleventh month since 1923.

The remembrance wall, which contains six poignant words ‘ Bedworth the town that never forgets’, was blessed in front of the crowds and seven special guests.

Among them was Sheffield remembrance hero Tony Foulds , who witnessed Reverend David Poultney bless the wall before the parade marched onto the saluting base.

Generations lined the streets to watch the parade and, for the first time, the service inside Coventry Road cemetery was shown to crowds outside on a giant screen.

Always a good event to attend.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
