A murder investigation is continuing – as police urge anyone who may have witnessed an earlier incident in Parkfield Road, Rugby, to come forward.

It comes after a man in his twenties died of suspected stab wounds yesterday. Police were called to Meadow Road in Rugby just after 6pm.

Two teenagers aged 16 and 17 were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

A cordon remains at the scene as officers continue to investigate. A post-mortem and formal identification are due to take place.

Chief Inspector Karl Faulkner from Warwickshire Police said: "A cordon remains in place on Meadow Road whilst enquiries continue.

“As part of the investigation, we’re also appealing to anyone who may have witnessed a possible altercation in the bridge area of Parkfield Road at around 5.10pm yesterday, involving the passenger of a car and a cyclist."

Man who died in Rugby on Halloween named by police

Image

Police have named the man who died in Rugby on Halloween as Cain Jackson.

The 24-year-old was pronounced dead after police were called to reports of a man having suffered suspected stab wounds in Meadow Road at around 6pm on October 31.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information and are eager to trace some 'trick or treaters' who may have seen the incident.

It is believed that an altercation may have also taken place in the bridge area of Parkfield Road at around 5.10pm.

Officers would also like to speak to anyone who has any dashcam footage or recordings of the incident.

It is also possible someone may have found an iPhone 7+ in a grey case in the Parkfield Road area of Rugby.

If it has been found, officers are asking for this person to come foward.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder and appeared at Warwickshire Magistrates' Court on Monday (November 4).

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Warwick Crown Court on Wednesday (November 6).

Halloween killer sentenced to just four years in prison

A teenager has been jailed for just over four years for stabbing a man to death on Halloween last year.

Cain Jackson was stabbed by 18-year-old Ethan Tucker in Meadow Road, Rugby, on October 31, 2019, and tragically died at the scene.

Tucker was arrested that same night and was originally charged with the murder of Mr Jackson, 24, but went on to plead guilty to an alternative charge of manslaughter in April.

As we reported in our newsletter, the plea was accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service and Tucker, of Meadow Road, Rugby, was sentenced today (May 22) at Warwick Crown Court to four years and four months in prison.

Following the sentencing, investigating officer Detective Inspector Teresa McKenna, from Warwickshire Police, said: “This was a tragic event which led to a young man losing his life, and our thoughts remain with Cain’s friends and family at this difficult time.

“This has been a complex investigation and I would like to thank everyone who came forward to give evidence to support our enquiries, as well as the team who worked tirelessly worked on this case."
