The conversion of the council house into a huge emergency homeless hostel is going to cost £850,000 more than planned.

It has been revealed that Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council underestimated the cost of the works to create much-needed emergency rooms for families at risk of homelessness.

And it has seen the overall total skyrocket from £1.25m to £2.1m.

The new costs are revealed in an updated capital programme document due to be discussed by members of the council's cabinet on Wednesday.

The issue has been debated before, behind-closed-doors.

But now the figures are out in the pubic domain within the cabinet document.

CoventryLive contacted the borough council for a comment. None was made available at the time of publication.
