A security guard has been attacked during a cash-in-transit robbery in Coventry.

The guard was attacked by a man who demanded a cash box at a One Stop last Thursday in Eastern Green.

Details of the incident have just been released by West Midlands Police who are now appealing for anyone to come forward who may have information.

That includes a van driver and dog walker who were both in the area of the shop at the time of the robbery.

An appeal on the Coventry Police Facebook page said: "Police have launched an appeal for information following a cash-in-transit robbery in Coventry on Thursday morning (25 July).

"The robbery happened at One Stop on Parkhill Drive in Coventry at 6.10am.

"A security guard was attacked by a man who managed to get away with a box containing cash.

"It’s believed the suspect got into a car that drove away up Parkhill Drive towards Lower Eastern Green Lane.

"Detectives are appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time and who saw the incident take place. They’re particularly keen to trace the driver of a small white highway maintenance van and a dog walker who were both in the vicinity of the shop at the time.
