Vandals cause rail service delays in Warwickshire

Postby dutchman » Wed Jul 21, 2010 12:32 pm

Commuters faced disruption and delays after vandalism caused signalling problems on a railway line in Warwickshire.

National Rail Enquiries said the vandalism took place between Nuneaton and Rugby, during the early hours.

Delays took place for most of the morning while repairs were carried out.

Virgin Trains and London Midland services were affected. Trains between Stafford and Crewe were diverted.

A spokesman for Network Rail said some cable had been stolen, leading to the signal failure.
