Elderly man in hospital after being hit by bus
The collision happened in Coventry city centre
An elderly pedestrian was injured after a collision with a bus in Coventry city centre this morning.
The incident happened at around 11.45am in Cross Cheaping and involved a single decker Stagecoach bus.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said officers were called to "a collision involving a bus and an elderly pedestrian in Coventry".
They added: "The incident happened at around 11.45am on Cross Cheaping in the city centre.
"It's believed the man has suffered a leg injury."
West Midlands Ambulance Service - which sent an ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene - said the pedestrian was treated at the scene and then taken to University Hospital in Walsgrave.
A Stagecoach Midlands spokesman said: “A pedestrian was involved in an incident with one of our buses around 11.50am today at Cross Cheaping in Coventry city centre.
"Our first thoughts are for the welfare of the person involved.
“Safety is our absolute priority and we will be helping the authorities establish the circumstances involved.”
