Robber with metal bar steals cash from Coventry supermarket

Police want to speak to this man after an armed robbery at a Coventry supermarket

Details of the incident at the Co-op in Woodway Lane, Woodway Park, have only just been released.

Police have described the metal bar-wielding offender as "a masked robber", and said that he demanded money from the till at around 9.30pm on Friday, May 10.

They have confirmed that he fled with a quantity of cash.

West Midlands Police has today released an image of a man who they wish to speak to following this incident.

In a statement published on the Coventry Police Facebook page, West Midlands Police said: "We're appealing for information following an armed robbery where shop staff were threatened with a metal bar in Coventry.

"A masked robber entered Co-op in Woodway Lane and demanded money from the till around 9.30pm on 10 May.

"The offender then fled with a quantity of cash."
