Coventry United Football Club has announced a deal to play at the Butts Park Arena for the next ten years.

The club, which is already playing fixtures at Butts Park Arena, announced the long-term deal to play at Coventry Rugby Club’s home at its annual awards ceremony on Friday night (May 24).

The club, which has both men’s and women’s teams, has big growth ambitions and Coventry United Ladies will be competing in the FA Women’s Championship next season after winning promotion.

The highest ranked women’s team in the city, Coventry United Ladies have aspirations to reach the FA Women’s Super League.

Competing in the Championship next season will see them face the likes of Aston Villa and Leicester City.

The deal would appear to put paid to any chance of a groundshare deal between Coventry City FC and Coventry Rugby Club.

It follows speculation in April that a possible ground share with the Sky Blues was on the cards though this was dismissed by Coventry Rugby Club at the time”

News of the deal was announced last night at Coventry United Football Club’s annual awards.

It was announced by chairman Peter Reynolds in his speech.

Shortly after paying tribute to Coventry Rugby Club for its support of Coventry United he said: “I am very pleased to share that here in my hand the ink is dry on a ten-year deal to play at Butts Park Arena.”

As soon as Mr Reynolds announced the news the awards event erupted in cheers.

I suspect that they're about to see an influx of supporters
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
