Bedworth bus driver guilty of causing crash at Pool Meadow in Coventry

A BUS driver has been convicted of driving without due care and attention following a crash in Coventry in which 11 people were hurt.

Philip Haughton, 39, of Downing Crescent, Bedworth, denied the charge but was convicted after a trial at Coventry Magistrates Court.

It followed a crash between Haughton’s single decker bus and a double-decker bus at Pool Meadow bus station, in Fairfax Street, in July 2010. Eleven people suffered minor injuries. The court heard Haughton failed to conduct proper observations and failed to carry out an emergency stop to avoid the collision.

He was fined £120, given six points and ordered to pay £200 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
