Important clue left for police to pick upA would-be robber who threatened shop staff with a hammer left behind a vital clue - a bike.
The suspect walked in to Dawlish News on Dawlish Drive, Styvechale, armed with the hammer, but staff managed to fight him off and he fled empty-handed.
However, he did leave behind the hammer and a purple Raleigh bike at the scene.
Police have only just released details of the incident which happened at just before 10pm on Tuesday, April 23.
And investigators are trying to find out whether the bike is stolen or belongs to the suspect.
