A suspect was arrested after a pensioner, aged 74, was assaulted outside a Coventry Sainsbury’sPolice on a routine patrol through the city centre came across the man who had been punched in Trinity Street on Saturday (May 4) at around 10.47pm.
Police told us the victim was suspected to have been ‘intoxicated’ while the alleged attacker is not thought to be known to him.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “The 74-year-old was taken to hospital with injuries which are not thought to be serious.
“A 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and later released pending further investigation.
