Fifth arrest in Bedworth murder investigationA fifth man has been arrested in the investigation into the alleged murder of a Bedworth man.
Warwickshire Police this morning (May 14) arrested a 27-year-old man, who has not been identified, but is from Bedworth, on suspicion of assisting an offender.
He has been taken into custody and will be questioned today.
His arrest is the fifth in the investigation into the death of Daniel Pitham.
Bedworth United has also paid tribute to the former ‘fans favourite’ player.
The Greenbacks have added their condolences to the family of Mr Pitham.
In a statement posted by the club, it says: “All at Bedworth United AFC are saddened by the death of Daniel Pitham.
“We send our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of a former Greenback.”
The tribute went on to say he was a fans’ favourite.
“A no-nonsense defender who's great attitude saw him as a fans favourite he was a determined footballer with many good times at BUFC,” the tribute added.
The tribute follows another from Nuneaton Borough FC, where Mr Pitham also played.
Not only did he play for the 'Boro and the 'Greenbacks but also for Nuneaton and District Sunday Football League (NDSFL).
Yesterday (May 13) two men accused of murdering Mr Pitham appeared via video link at a crown court.
Scott Warner, 35, of Missing Oak Close, and John Robert Allison, 33, of Bulkington Road - both face a charge of murder.
They appeared at Warwick Crown Court via a video link from HMP Hewell where they are currently on remand.
