A woman desperately knocked on doors in Hillfields for help last night after she was stabbed in the neck and chest.
The 31-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in the attack in Vauxhall Street.
She had knocked on a number of doors in the area for help before a passing motorist called an ambulance.
Emergency services staff found her with stab wounds in Clarence Street shortly after 3.30am this morning (Tuesday, May 7).
She was taken to hospital where she is still being treated for the serious injuries.
A large part of Berry Street remains cordoned off by police today as forensic investigators begin their work.
Coventry investigation Inspector Becky Farr appealed for witnesses.
She said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information on what happened, to speak to us.
“If you think you may have dash-cam footage of the incident before or after it happened, please check and get in touch with us.”
Police are also checking for CCTV in the area which might have captured the attack.
The police cordon currently stretches along Berry Street from Coronation Road until the junction of Nelson Street and King William Street.
Traffic is still being diverted down Coronation Road around the cordon.
The stabbing is the 18th in the city since the start of the year.
