Arrest made after suspected 'chop shop' raided in Coventry

Police arrested one man after executing a search warrant at a suspected 'chop shop' in Holbrooks.

West Midlands Police received reports that stolen cars were being stripped down at a premises in Holbrook Lane.

Magistrates granted officers a warrant to search the premises, which they did on Monday, April 29, where they arrested one man who was later released without charge.

A stolen vehicle and other car parts were recovered from the scene, along with some cannabis.

The neighbourhood police team for Holbrooks and Radford posted photos of the raid on their Twitter page.

The tweet reads: "Busy weekend and start of the week.

"Over the last few days we received evidence of a ‘chop shop’ on our patch. This is a garage that strips down stolen cars.

"We secured a warrant from the magistrates and executed it this morning along with our St Michaels WMP buddies. Sherbourne WMP also in attendance.

"On the premises we recovered a stolen vehicle from a burglary from another force area, other vehicle parts believed stolen, and cannabis.

"Occupant from the address arrested and now sat in the cells for questioning."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said that the arrested man has been released.

They said: "A 33-year-old man from Coventry was arrested on suspicion of handing stolen goods.

"He has been released without charge."
