It took place in Keresley Brook Road at around 12.30pm today (Saturday April 27).

Gary said: “Where it came down if there had been anyone or anything there they or it would have been totally crushed.”

Explaining what happened he said: “It was literally right outside my house and bits of it went in my garden.

“I was in my house and heard a noise. I could see all the branches and we went out.

“We were outside within about five seconds.

“It was a bit of a shock but I’m just glad it didn’t come too near to my house, or hit it.”

Gary said the tree blocked the road for several hours.

“I saw my neighbour’s son and he said he had been on the bike and had just managed to get past where the tree came down.

“He said literally a few seconds later and it would have hit him."

Gary said the is now just one large tree - out of three that used to be nearby - remaining.

“Originally there were three trees,” he said.

“One came down the other year and now another one today.

“There’s only one left and people are really worried about it.

“They think it is only a matter of time before that one comes down too.”

Firefighters and council contractors were on the scene shortly after the tree fell.

“The fire brigade came out and council contractors came out to cut it all up,” said Gary.

“Most of it has all gone now but it did totally block the road for several hours.”

No doubt the council will say the other one is safe like they told me with trees that over hang my garden the trunks are only about eighteen inches away from the fence and branches brake off one falling in my garden then they claim are inspected every few years and are safe :rolling: if branches brake off trees they are not safe and can fall any time.
