Leamington Shopping Park is set to get a new M&S foodhall after developers won a planning appeal.

Plans for the new store have been given the green light after the original planning application was rejected at the end of 2017 and developers launched an appeal.

The retail park is located around a mile outside of Leamington town centre just off the A452 and is home to a Debenhams, Sainsburys, Halfords and TK Maxx.

An old garden centre, which used to be part of a Focus DIY store, will be demolished to make way for the new building on the land between Debenhams and New Look.

The foodhall will also have an M&S cafe inside, and the development will include two smaller retail units as well.

Once open the new store is expected to provide an additional 60 jobs including part-time and full-time positions.

Plans were originally rejected over concerns that the development could impact the town centres of Leamington and Warwick, both of which already have an M&S food outlet.

Planning documents stated that M&S had been searching for a suitable site for an additional foodhall in Leamington for more than 10 years.

In the appeal decision notice, inspector David Wildsmith said: "I have concluded that the proposed development would not have any significant adverse impact on existing, committed and planned public or private investment in other nearby centres, or on the vitality or viability of Royal Leamington Spa, Warwick or Kenilworth town centres."
