A sword, a knife and a hammer were found after police responded to reports of a street robbery.

Two men were arrested in Walsgrave Road, Stoke, on Wednesday, March 27, following a robbery in nearby Far Gosford Street at around 9pm.

An eyewitness to the incident in Walsgrave Road has told CoventryLive that one man was armed with a sword, while another was wielding a hammer.

And West Midlands Police has confirmed that a sword, a knife and a hammer were all recovered.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police were called following a knifepoint robbery in Far Gosford Street, Coventry, around 9pm last night (Wednesday, March 27).

"A man in his early 20s was approached by a group of offenders who took his phone and wallet.

"Officers attended and arrested an 18-year-old man in Walsgrave Road on suspicion of robbery, possessing an offensive weapon and having cannabis.

"A 17-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of a bladed article in public. They remain in police custody for questioning."

Two teenagers admit knifepoint robbery in Coventry

Two teenagers have admitted carrying out a knifepoint robbery after which a sword and a hammer were seized by police.

Officers were called following a man in his 20s being robbed of his phone and wallet in Far Gosford Street at around 9pm on March 27.

Two people were eventually arrested in Walsgrave Road, Stoke, and West Midlands Police confirmed that a sword, a knife and a hammer were all recovered.

The two arrested - Joe Delaney, 18, of Silverton Road, Foleshill, and a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons - were both charged with robbery and possession of a blade.

They appeared at Warwick Crown Court today, Thursday, April 25, where they both pleaded guilty to both charges against them.

The two teenagers will now be sentenced on May 16 and were remanded in custody until that date.

Teenagers jailed for knifepoint robbery in Coventry

Two teenagers have been jailed for a knifepoint robbery in Coventry in a sword and a hammer were seized by police.

Joe Delaney, 18, and a 17-year-old boy - who cannot be named for legal reasons - admitted carrying out the robbery in Far Gosford Street on Wednesday, March 27.

They had robbed their victim, a man in his 20s, and stolen his phone and wallet at around 9pm.

Police were called and arrested Delaney, of Silverton Road, Foleshill, and the other teenager in Walsgrave Road, Stoke.

West Midlands Police confirmed that a Samurai sword, a kitchen knife and a hammer were all recovered.

Delaney and his accomplice were both charged with robbery and possession of a blade, which they admitted earlier this year.

They were both sentenced today at Warwick Crown Court to 32 months in prison.

The judge also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of a Samurai sword and a knife.
