There have been a number of similar incidents across Warwickshire

A farm claims thieves stole sheep and lambs before killing them and dumping the remains outside a block of flats in Coventry.

The gruesome claim comes as Warwickshire Police put out a warning over a number of incidents of sheep being stolen and butchered.

In one incident, a farm reported on Facebook that remains of sheep and two lambs were found in Coventry.

Warwickshire Police has said one of the incidents involved 19 ewes being killed and butchered in a field.

Johnson's Farm in Wasperton, near Warwick, posted a video on Facebook of at least one person shining a torch.

Along with the video, a post on March 7 was put up saying the incident was caught on CCTV.

"The remains of our sheep, fleece, skin, head, legs and ears and two lambs have been found in a carrier bag outside a block of flats in Coventry, at the bins.

"We know this is our sheep as it has our electronic ear tag number in it with our unique flock number as it was a home bred sheep.

"We are very upset. Please keep sharing to help raise awareness of rural crime. This case has not been solved.

A man was arrested after police raided addresses in Coventry in connection with illegal butchering.

Officers from Northamptonshire Police and Warwickshire Police executed warrants on Saturday, August 10.

The raids were carried out as part of an investigation into the slaughter and illegal butchery of sheep.

The activity is part of Operation Stock, the Northamptonshire Police investigation into a number of reports of illegal sheep theft and butchery across the county.

It is linked to similar investigations in neighbouring forces, including Warwickshire.

Properties in Ransome Road, Fynford Road, Foleshill Road, and Eld Road were all raided as part of the investigation.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft and criminal damage. He has since been released on bail.

Items seized on Saturday are now undergoing examination.
