It is the latest stabbing bringing the 2019 total to 11

Two people were arrested in Coventry city centre after reports a man was stabbed with a pair of scissors.

A man and a woman were arrested at 3pm on Monday (March 11) in Corporation Street following the attack that came on the same day that police launched their latest crackdown on knife crime.

The 27-year-old was arrested on suspicion of wounding − as the 55-year-old victim suffered a small puncture wound to his chest − and the 29-year-old woman was detained for assault and theft after a suspected stolen laptop was found in her handbag.

They remain in police custody.

Two charged over stabbing in Coventry city centre

Two people have been charged after a man was stabbed with a pair of scissors in Coventry city centre.

Police were called to Corporation Street yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, March 12.

A man was stabbed with a pair of scissors, and both a man and a woman were arrested by police.

West Midlands Police have today confirmed that last night, 37-year-old Mathew Clamp, from Radford Road in Coventry, and 29-year-old Kirsty Allison, of no fixed address, were both charged with wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.

Allison also faces another count of handling stolen goods after it’s alleged a laptop taken from a car was found in her handbag.

Both are set to appear in court today, Wednesday, March 13.

It has been confirmed that the officers who arrested the two were out on patrol as part of the force's Operation Sceptre - which is tackling knife crime across the city.
