The 42-year-old was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his shoulder, but his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
The attack happened on Daventry Road in Cheylesmore at around 9pm Friday night (March 1).
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "An investigation is underway after a 42-year-old man was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his shoulder following an attack in a wine shop in Daventry Road, Cheylesmore, last night (1 March) just before 9pm.
"His condition is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
"Officers are conducting CCTV enquiries and asking anyone who has information to get in touch."
