Pensioner, 86, robbed in Coventry home as images released of suspect

A pensioner, 86, was robbed in his own Coventry home after a man demanded extra cash for cutting his trees



A Coventry Police spokesperson said: “We’re appealing for information after a pensioner was robbed in his own Coventry home.

“The 86-year-old victim allowed the rogue worker to carry out gardening work at around 10am on January 12 after saying he had been contacted by a relative.

“Once the work had been completed at the address off Mary Herbert Street, Cheylesmore, he asked for money and then grabbed a bag of cash before fleeing.

“The elderly man was left unhurt but shaken by the ordeal.

“These images of the suspect were captured on nearby CCTV – and although of poor quality – it is hoped someone may recognise him from his build or the white van.

“He is described as white, aged 50 to 60 with dark brown hair.”
