The boy could be seen gripping the top of the barrier in Coundon Road as it started to riseA safety warning has been issued after a young boy was spotted hanging from a level crossing in Coventry.
The boy could be seen gripping the top of the barrier in Coundon Road as it started to rise, with his feet almost off the floor.
The shocking image was posted on the Spotted Coventry City Facebook page on Saturday night (February 2) by a concerned passerby who urged the boy's parents to "talk to him before something serious happens".
It added: "He was still swinging on this barrier as the oncoming car came over the track, he had his bike on the barrier as the train came past... "silly" things that can end horribly."
Now the image has sparked a warning from railway bosses.
A spokesman for Network Rail said the actions were not only "dangerous" but also illegal.
They added that there could have been "devastating consequences".

You can't cure stupid. Another potential entry for the Darwin awards.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
