Teenager stabbed in early evening city centre attack



A teenager was taken to hospital last night after a city centre stabbing incident.

The 15-year-old suffered knife injuries during the disorder involving a small group of male youths which took place on Trinity Street just before 6pm on Saturday (February 2).

He suffered injuries to his leg and lower torso - and police have confirmed that his injuries are not life changing.

The victim was treated in hospital and discharged shortly after midnight.

Senior officers at West Midlands Police have authorised a Dispersal Order across the city centre after the disorder.

This gives the police powers to move on any groups hanging around in the city centre if it’s suspected they could be a crime or anti-social behaviour threat.

The order is in place until Monday - and police have warned that anyone who returns to the designated area after being moved on by police risks being arrested.

Additional officers will be patrolling the city centre today for added reassurance.

Though the road was taped off for a time, it is open as usual today, with just a small amount of police tape remaining following the incident.
