Police executed a warrant on an address in the city on Wednesday night

Cannabis plants with a potential street value of £100,000 have been found during a raid on a property in Coventry.

Police executed a warrant at a property in Cobb Close, in the Hillfields area of the city, on Wednesday night.

When they entered the property, they found a cannabis farm of over 100 plants.

As every plant is worth approximately £1,000, it is thought over £100,000 worth of cannabis was recovered.

A man has now been arrested as part of the operation.

Police confirmed they worked on intelligence from the local community.

A spokesman for Coventry Police said: "We’ve arrested a 38-year-old Coventry man on suspicion of cultivating cannabis after finding over 100 plants when conducting a warrant at an address in Cobb Close last night (Wednesday 30 January).

"We acted on community information and concerns about suspicious activity and we’d like to thank everyone that contacted us about this.

"The man remains in police custody this morning (Thursday 31 January)."
