Behrooz Rashidi failed to appear at the court in Leamington on January 9 to stand trial for a wounding offence.
On Tuesday January 22 he was found guilty in his absence and sentenced to eight years imprisonment.
The 38-year-old was also handed a 10-year restraining order, banning him for contacting the victim.
Rashidi, formerly of Jenner Street, Coventry, was bailed by the courts in 2018, and has not been seen since.
He has known links to Coventry and Iran, but the police said their enquires suggest he is still in the UK.
