They attacked him as he walked along an alleyway

Thugs attacked an OAP near to Nuneaton's museum before stealing money out of his pockets and his bag of shopping.

Despite the robbery taking place on Christmas Eve, Warwickshire Police have just released details of the incident to help them trace the attackers.

The elderly man had left Sainsbury's on Attleborough Road and placed his shopping in his black rucksack before walking down the side of the building into the nearby alley towards the museum open park area.

While in the alleyway two men stopped him, assaulted him and took his rucksack.

Before leaving on foot they took a quantity of cash from the elderly man's pockets.

Investigating officers say that their enquiry has led them to needing to find a key witness.

"Officers are continuing their enquiries and appealing for witnesses, however, since the assault the rucksack has been handed in anonymously to police," a spokesperson for Warwickshire Police.

"We would like to speak to the person that handed it in and also appeal for further witnesses to the original incident."

Anyone with information should contact Warwickshire police on 101 quoting Crime Ref 23/53952/18.

Details can also be passed on to officers via the Crimestoppers hotline, which is free to call from a landline and confidential, on 0800 555 111.

I think they've left it too long. Christmas eve was a long time back now.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
