A Coventry mum was left disgusted by a shocking discovery at a city park.

Briony took her kids to Caludon Castle park on Sunday to use the children's play area to get them out of the house after Christmas.

But the distraught mum told CoventryLive she got straight back in the car and turned around after being greeted with a 'vile' sight.

The mum took a video showing over 100 small silver capsules, which are used to dispense laughing gas.

"It's not something you want to be greeted with when you take your kids to the park," Briony said.

"I thought it was vile.

"It's a family park where there's always kids playing and there's a big children's area.

"Kids are like magpies, if they see something shiny they want it."

Briony, who now lives in Wyken after moving from Willenhall, said she was surprised by the discovery.

"You wouldn't expect it here," she added.

Laughing gas, which is usually used for medical purposes as pain relief, has become a dangerous craze in recent years.

Inhaling nitrous oxide can lead to a drop in blood pressure, fainting and even a heart attack.

Although it is illegal to sell it for human consumption, the gas can be easily bought online as it is also used in the production of whipped cream.

Briony reported the mess to Coventry City Council yesterday (Monday, January 7).

CoventryLive has contacted the council for a comment but has received no reply at the time of publication.

Checked on Amazon and yes plenty of canisters on sale and cheap as well, that rather surprised me. I also didn't know that smack heads got some sort of kick out of using this stuff.
