A man has been charged with number of driving offences following a police chase through Coventry.

Members of Warwickshire Police Force’s Operational Patrol Unit (OPU) joined forces with colleagues from West Midlands Police in the pursuit yesterday afternoon (Sunday, December 30).

According to a Warwickshire Police spokesperson the pursuit got underway after a suspected stolen Seat Ibiza was seen in Aldermans Green in Coventry.

The car was eventually stopped on the A444 near to the Ricoh Arena by what has been described as ‘tactical contact’ by a police car.

A man was arrested at the scene.

Richard Howard, aged 25 of Himbleton Drive, Coventry has been charged with driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, dangerous driving and receiving stolen goods.

He was due to appear at Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, December 31).

There was another 'incident' the other side of the Arena (Longford park) yesterday. Plenty of police present and two damaged cars. - Not seen any reports to date.
