Teen chased by masked men and stabbed in back

Police have revealed more details about the teenage boy that was assaulted in Hillfields.

The 16-year-old was chased by a group of masked men and stabbed in the back on King William Street in Hillfields shortly before 7pm yesterday (December 23).

He suffered a punctured lung and was taken to hospital by paramedics.

He is now in a stable condition and police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the back in King William Street, Coventry, on Sunday 23 December.

"At around 7pm, the teenager was walking down King William Street when he was chased by a group of masked men.

"He was taken to hospital with a punctured lung where he remains in a stable condition.

"CCTV is currently being reviewed and officers have spoken to a number of witnesses.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

There was a heavy police presence in the area last night according to reports on social media.

A police cordon was put in place at the junction with Victoria Street and Canterbury Street but it had been lifted by this morning.
