It is Melisandre.

The police have truly lost control, and I don't put it all down to a lack of funding.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

 Rebbonk it seems police v government like in the riots you cut our force numbers and budget we will cut our police power. A lot is the government is relying on cameras and phones which tells them where you are and cameras that half the time are useless.

Here's what we know about an armed police presence in Willenhall

A number of armed officers were in Willenhall last night as part of an ongoing investigation, police have confirmed.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police told CoventryLive no other details were available at the present time.

It is understood no arrests were made.

There were no reported injuries in the area despite some speculation on social media that a stabbing had taken place.

Others on social media said officers had been spotted on Tintagel Close and Yarningale Road in Willenhall between around 7pm and 9pm.

One residents said she had to be escorted to her taxi by the police.

Others said they had heard sirens in the area and some believed a house raid had taken place.

Other reports on Facebook suggested that police with dogs had been searching in a nearby area of woodland.

Yarningale Road was reportedly closed off and residents were reportedly told to stay away during the course of the operation.

West Midlands Police told CoventryLive that the 44-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday has now been released pending further investigation.

Willenhall shooting suspect now faces murder charge

Image

The man accused of shooting Addison Packeer dead in Coventry is now facing a murder charge.

Jordan Bassett had originally been charged with unlawfully killing Mr Packeer following his death at an address in Chepstow Close, Willenhall, on Friday, December 7.

A post-mortem examination revealed he died from a gunshot wound.

Last month a judge ordered that the case against Bassett be reviewed by the chief crown prosecutor of the West Midlands before any pleas were made.

And at a hearing on Tuesday, February 26, at Warwick Crown Court, the charges against Bassett, 25, of Tintagel Close, Willenhall, were amended.

He now faces a charge of murdering Mr Packeer, which he has denied, along with two further charges of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of a firearm - a 9mm Luger handgun.

Following his not guilty pleas to all charges, Bassett will now stand trial at Warwick Crown Court on June 10 and was remanded in custody until that date.

Man who shot 'close friend' in head jailed for 18 years

Image

A Coventry man who accidentally shot his pal in the head has been jailed for nearly two decades.

Jordan Bassett sat with his head in his hands as he listened to a judge and barristers discuss how long he should spend behind bars.

The 25-year-old had pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Addison Packeer who died after being shot at point-blank range with a 9mm Luger handgun in December last year.

Bassett had been "fooling around" with the weapon, that he believed wasn't loaded, when he unintentionally pulled the trigger while the pair were at a flat in Chepstow Close, Willenhall.

A jury cleared him of murdering Mr Packeer following a trial, but did find him guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Bassett, of Tintagel Close, Willenhall, was sentenced for the latter, alongside the manslaughter charge and possession of a firearm which he also admitted, and was sentenced to 18 years in prison with an extended licence of five years.

Bassett’s previous convictions were listed during today's hearing at Warwick Crown Court, with his first court appearance coming in 2006.

He was convicted of drug offences in 2012, 2013 and 2017, with the latter seeing him given a suspended prison sentence for producing class B drug and possession with intent to supply.

The incident that led to Mr Packeer's death happened around two weeks before the end of the period of suspension against Bassett.
