A police officer was bitten in a violent attack in Coventry.

The sickening incident was believed to have taken place near to Tile Hill library in Jardine Crescent before midnight on Tuesday, October 9, as two officers were set upon by a "violent male".

Shockingly, the man bit one of the officers on the arm, and kicked out at the other.

The first officer also suffered a dislocated shoulder.

Remarkably, after being checked over at hospital, the officers were quickly back to work.

But worryingly, the officer who was bitten now faces the possibility of six months' worth of medication, due to the risk of infection.

Meanwhile, the attacker ended up in police custody.

A witness to the incident claimed that the police helicopter and armed police attended the scene, which is currently unconfirmed.

As a result of the incident, a 20-year-old was arrested on suspicion of "two assaults on officers".
