But according to the paper, thousands of vulnerable people with terminal cancer, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and clinical depression had their applications declined and were told to look for work.




That's shocking - but nothing surprises me any more :evil:

Every time an incoming government tries to 'reform' welfare we end up with a system which is much more complicated, costs much more to administer and contains many more anomolies than the one it replaces :roll:

Unfortunately true.

Equally unfortunately, I know of many people abusing the present system. - It seems relatively easy from what I'm told.

I've always been a believer that "National assistance" (God, doesn't that age me!) is for the needy, not the greedy.
