Detectives have arrested two men in connection with the attempted murder of a man in Nuneaton.

A 20-year-old from Nuneaton and 24-year-old from Coventry have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are currently being held in police custody.

The arrests have been made in connection with an incident in which a 38-year-old man, who has not been identified, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg at a flat in Merevale Court last night (Monday, September 24).

Investigations are ongoing into the incident, which police have said they believe was a "targeted attack".

The victim has suffered what have been described as "potentially life-changing" injuries.

Detective Inspector Neil Reader from Nuneaton CID said: "We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this serious incident in which a man sustained a gunshot wound.

"The man remains in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.

"At this time we believe the incident was a targeted attack and there was no wider risk to the public.

"I would like to thank the public for their assistance so far and encourage anyone with information who hasn't already spoken to us to get in touch as a matter of urgency, no mater how insignificant you think the information may be."
