Animal sanctuary: “It is not every day you get a 7ft snake falling out of an attic"

A couple had the fright of their lives when a 7ft boa constrictor fell out of their attic.

They were blissfully unaware that the huge snake was living in the roof of their home in Stockingford – until it fell from the attic onto their landing.

In shock, they called the police, who then contacted the Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary for help.

Geoff Grewcock, founder of the Oaston Road-based sanctuary, said: “They (the couple) were in shock, I reckon the snake must have moved around and opened the attic door and just fell onto their landing.

“They haven’t ever had a snake, I don’t think that they could get over the fact it had been up there, it must have been surviving on the odd mouse.

“When I got the call from the police, I couldn’t believe it and then when I got there, they had managed to get the snake in a container in the garden outside.

“It is a huge snake, quite heavy, and it was really cold.”

He said that, much to the couples’ delight, they took the snake back to sanctuary.

“The snake was really hungry but is absolutely fine, it is a real beauty.

“It must be about 14 years old, quite an old snake but it is lovely. Not the sort of thing that you would want falling out of your attic though!”

Somehow I'm not convinced?

You never know what your neighbours have...
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Our neighbours complained about a cockerel waking them up in the early hours of the morning. Whitefriars raided the flat concerned and found it full of goats, sheep, chickens, etc. It was an upstairs flat too!
